Review - The Thing (1982)

So here is my long awaited video review of John Carpenter's The Thing, from 1982. This movie had such a great influence on me that it became a gateway for me to explore new kinds of horror beyond kid's shows and PG rated movies. This was the one movie that scared me so much that it left me with a fear of dogs for years and it kept me awake for how gory it was. So, I give to you the review of my number one favorite horror movie... The Thing.

Excellent review. Carpenter's The Thing is also one of my top movies of all time, and my favorite horror movie. As you said, it had it all, and it scared the crap out of me when I saw it at about 10 years old after renting the VHS. I had nightmares for years.

One of the incredible things is that the effects still hold up, and are superior in many ways to modern CGI effects. And enough cannot be said of the ensemble cast.

If you are a fan this might be redundant, but if you never did, check out the fan site Outpost 31. There's some cool stuff there, but there is an excellent e-book which masterfully dissects the movie scene by scene .

I was 12yrs old when I saw this movie and everything from the cast to the writing was perfect. what bothers me is that not more people saw it and also what bothers me is that no one takes the time to perfect special effects any more, to much CGI and it's because of CGI that I don't watch ANY of today's horror movie.
